Oklahoma City charitable organizations are stepping up to help out Oklahoma families throughout the month of December. The holidays can often be a hard time for families that are struggling with financial needs. Thankfully, there are many organizations out in Oklahoma City that are willing to help families through the holiday season. Existing programs can often provided assistance with holiday gifts, clothing, meals and much more.
To help families that are looking for extra help this holiday season, For The Families has gathered a list of organizations to reach out to this Christmas.
Toys For Tots - Toys For Tots offers the opportunities for children up to 12 years old to receive free toys during the holidays. Families can fill out the “Local Family Toy Request Form” here https://okc.toysfortots.org/local-coordinator-sites/lco-sites/local-toy-request-single-form.aspx to apply.
Sharing Tree - Formerly known as The Christmas Connection, Sharing Tree gives families assistance with toys, clothing, and other holiday items. For more information, call (405) 634-2006.
United Way of Norman Christmas Assistance - The United Way of Norman is providing Christmas assistance to families in need this Christmas. To be eligible, families must provide identification for each family member (social security card, drivers license, student ID, etc.), proof of residency in Cleveland County, and proof of income. They also require that at least one adult from the family works two hours to help prepare the store for the event. For more information, please visit https://www.unitedwaynorman.org/christmas.
Victory Church - Each Christmas, Victory Church hosts Toy Drives to collect Christmas gifts for Oklahoma families in need. Participating families are required to post proof of income to be eligible to participate. More information can be found at https://victoryfamily.church/events/toy-drive/.
Community Action Agency of Oklahoma And Canadian County Holiday Assistance Blessing Box - The organization offers assistance to Canadian County families in need by giving them a box with two weeks worth of food and cleaning supplies. Children under 12 will receive a toy, and teenagers will receive a gift, such as a gift card. Adults are given either towels or blankets. For more information on signing up, please call 405-262-7042.
Hope Center of Edmond Christmas Sponsorship - The Hope Center of Edmond has a Christmas sponsorship program where low income families have the opportunity to connect with a sponsor willing to help assist the family with christmas help such as toy, food, clothing, and more. Jesus House of Oklahoma City - The Jesus House located in downtown Oklahoma City offers traditional holiday meals for those in need during the holidays. Please visit https://www.jesushouseokc.org/meals-for-the-hungry/ for more information.
Red Andrews Christmas Dinner - Since 1947, The Red Andrews Christmas Dinner has taken place on Christmas Day to provide toys and warm meals to those that need it. The event takes place at the Cox Convention Center with dinner being served from 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. For more information, visit https://www.redandrewsdinner.org.
Skyline Urban Ministry - Each year, the Skyline Urban Ministry hosts the “Christmas Grace” event, which provides low-income families with Christmas presents. For more information about making an appointment, visit their website here: https://www.skylineurbanministry.org/christmas-grace-patron-info.
