As the days grow closer to the winter season, some families worry about where their next meal will come from or if they will even have a place to rest their head at night. Thankfully, the Oklahoma City Metro has several types of organizations that gives families the opportunity to get back on their feet. Here is a list of the top three charitable organizations in the Oklahoma City Metro that help families in need.
3. City Rescue Mission

City Rescue Mission offers their Bridge to Life recovery program, which helps people “overcome problems and issues that prevent them from living their best life.” On their website, they offer several ways to get involved with their mission some of which are donating money online, volunteer opportunities, donating new or gently used items and even have a partnership with Amazon called “Amazon Smile” that donates proceeds to City Rescue Mission.

1. Homeless Alliance
This Oklahoma City based organization works diligently to end long-term homelessness in Oklahoma City by working with the community, various agencies and nonprofit organizations. Homeless Alliance offers several housing programs to families with children, veterans and people who are chronically homeless. This shelter provides breakfast, lunch, showers, mental and physical healthcare, legal support and much more to over 300 people a day. This organization even offers a chance for companion animals to stay in a kennel that offers food and veterinary services. This organization not only gives people the opportunity to donate money, but it also gives the community a chance to serve through volunteering and donating specific items that the shelter recommends.
